About Us
Project 7 is a professional contemporary dance company based out of Atlanta, Georgia. Recognized in the 2010 January issue of Dance Magazine for its “edgy, explosive LA contemporary jazz” style and the 2010 October issue of Dance Informa Magazine for a “unique and inspired” style, director and choreographer, Cherrise Wakeham, has had her work with Project 7 reviewed by ArtsCriticAtl as being a “contemporary style with an undercurrent of risk-taking and emotional honesty.” Receiving the highest of praise from So You Think You Can Dance choreographers, Mia Michaels, Tyce Diorio, Wade Robson, Brian Friedman, Gil Duldulao, Dave Scott and Cris Judd for their performances of Freewave and The Singer, the company was invited to perform at the 2008 and 2010 Pulse National Gala in New York City.
Project 7 has become an increasingly active force in the metro-Atlanta and surrounding communities. In addition to guest performances for Modern Atlanta Dance Festival, DanceATL, DanceATHENS, Dance 101’s Incarnation, Coiled at the Base of Our Spines, Phazes of Love, Roswell City Dance Winter Concert and Synergy, Project 7 Contemporary Dance Company also supports several charitable causes including AIDSathens, ugaMiracle, Dancers Responding to AIDS and Autism Speaks.
